Scripture
Isaiah 6:3
“And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.”
Quoted from King James Version (public domain).
The story
Why this verse
Isaiah’s vision begins in the temple and ends with a coal from the altar. Between those moments, the seraphim cry: holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of His glory. Holiness here is not cold distance. It is the overwhelming otherness of God, so bright that Isaiah’s first word is woe and his next is mercy. Holy Are You lingers at that threshold — the place where awe undoes us and grace puts us back together. It is a song of adoration before it is a song of anything else.
Lyrics
The words of the song
Leader: Father of Heaven!
All: We praise You!
Leader: Maker of the earth!
All: We thank You!
Chorus
You are holy, You are living (Hey!)
Lord our God, we give You praise (Hey!)
You alone, our King forever (Hey!)
Heaven and earth bow down (Hey!)
You made the sun to rise again
Breath in my lungs, I call Your name
Mountains bow and oceans roar
Every knee falls to You, Lord
From the dust You lifted me
Grace and love have set me free
Morning light, Your mercy new
All I am belongs to You
Pre-Chorus
We are walking in Your light
We are singing hallelujah
Hands up high, no holding back
We give You all the praise
Chorus
You are holy, You are living (Hey!)
Lord our God, we give You praise (Hey!)
You alone, our King forever (Hey!)
Heaven and earth bow down (Hey!)
King of glory, You reign forever
Through every storm, You never change
Alpha, Omega, beginning and end
Faithful Father, closest friend
Drums are calling, feet will move
Feel Your Spirit in the groove
From every land, in one accord
We lift Your name, our mighty Lord
Bridge (Dance Chant / Amapiano feel)
Eh eh — We declare it
Eh eh — You are Lord
Eh eh — Be exalted
Eh eh — Forevermore
You are holy, You are living (Hey!)
Lord our God, we give You praise (Hey!)
You alone, our King forever (Hey!)
Heaven and earth bow down (Hey!)
You are holy!
All: We praise You!
You are holy!
All: We thank You!
Father of Heaven…
Maker of the earth…
We dance in Your presence…
Forever, Amen.
Reflection
Sit with it
Awe is hard to manufacture. Ask God to show you one thing about Himself today that is larger than your current worry.
A prayer
Holy God, You are high and lifted up, and the whole earth is full of Your glory. Undo my small picture of You. Touch my lips, and make my life a song that honours You.
Amen.
