Scripture
Psalm 103:2
“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:”
Quoted from King James Version (public domain).
The story
Why this verse
Psalm 103 begins with a command to the soul: bless the LORD, and do not forget. Forgetting is the quiet danger the psalm addresses. Blessing becomes invisible when we stop noticing it. So the psalm rehearses what God does — forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, satisfies, renews — and ties each mercy to the ordinary texture of a life. Everyday Blessings stays close to that rehearsal. It treats gratitude as a practice rather than a mood: a daily turning back to the Giver, counting what has already been given.

Reflection
Sit with it
Try naming three specific benefits from today — not general blessings, but particular mercies. Gratitude grows where attention goes.
A prayer
Lord, teach me to notice. Forgive me for the gifts I have walked past. Let today’s ordinary mercies turn my heart back to You.
Amen.
