Scripture
Proverbs 24:16
“For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”
Quoted from King James Version (public domain).
The story
Why this verse
Proverbs 24:16 is a small verse with a large mercy: the righteous person falls seven times and rises again. Seven is not a precise tally; it is the number of completeness, the way of saying “again and again.” The point is not that failure never happens. The point is that failure is not the final word for those who belong to God. You Have the Right to Try Again carries that permission into the room where shame likes to sit. Getting up is not proof that you never fell. It is the shape of a life held by grace.

Reflection
Sit with it
What have you written off as a permanent verdict? What would it mean to treat it instead as a fall — and to get up one more time?
A prayer
Merciful God, thank You that failure is not the end of my story. Lift me gently. Give me the courage to rise and the humility to ask for help.
Amen.
