The story
Why this verse
Lamentations is a book written from the rubble. Its poet does not pretend the night was short; he names the affliction, the bitterness, the bowed head. Then, in the middle of the wreckage, he remembers something that changes the arithmetic: the LORD’s mercies are new every morning. Faithfulness here is not a slogan about everything going well. It is the steady character of God arriving again at dawn, with compassion that has not run out. Morning Sun holds that turn toward hope — the moment a grieving heart looks up and finds mercy already waiting.

Reflection
Sit with it
Most of us wait for the night to end before we look for God. Lamentations suggests another posture: remembering His mercy while it is still dark. What would change if you named one evidence of God’s faithfulness before the day begins?
A prayer
Faithful God, meet me in the morning. When yesterday’s weight is still heavy, remind me that Your compassion has not run out. Give me grace to begin again today.
